Royal Army (AS FAR) condemns Clasico riots and calls for sportsmanship

AS FAR (Royal Army) club issued an official statement in which it expressed its strong condemnation and outright rejection of all the unsporting behaviour that accompanied its match against Raja, in the professional league competition.
The military club stressed that this clash, played on the pitch of a stadium regarded as one of the best in the world, should have been a football celebration reflecting the standing of both teams and their great history, along with their large fan bases, embodying the principles of sportsmanship and fair competition.
The statement noted, however, that the incidents that took place during the match, involving rioting and inappropriate conduct, are wholly unacceptable behaviours, given the danger they pose to the safety of supporters and the harm they cause to the image of national football.
AS FAR reaffirmed its commitment to the values of sportsmanship and respect for the rules, and its total rejection of all forms of violence inside and outside stadiums, calling for the combined efforts of all stakeholders, authorities, fans and sporting figures, to ensure that matches are held in a safe environment that reflects the civilised face of Moroccan football.
The club also called on its fans to show a sense of responsibility and awareness, and to behave properly both in the stands and beyond.
The club concluded its statement by affirming its ongoing involvement in all initiatives aimed at enhancing security and safety in stadiums and at preserving the image of national sport and its noble values.
