El Hassane El Azzaoui Shines on the World Stage and Wins the Zegama Stage of the Golden Trail World Series

Moroccan runner El Hassane El Azzaoui has achieved a new global feat by winning the opening stage of the "Golden Trail World Series", hosted by the Zegama region in Spain, in a race regarded as one of the toughest in the world of mountain running.
El Azzaoui covered the 42-kilometre course in an impressive time of 3 hours, 45 minutes and 11 seconds, following a fierce and thrilling battle right up to the final metres with Italy's Daniel Pattis. He sealed the win thanks to a strong finish that showcased his outstanding physical condition and his vast experience in this type of race.
The race stood out for its rugged and technical terrain, with a total elevation gain of 2930 metres, along with muddy trails that added to the difficulty of the challenge. Even so, the Moroccan runner managed to maintain an average speed of more than 11.5 kilometres per hour, an achievement that reflects a remarkable world-class level.
This title confirms El Azzaoui's rising stature in trail running and strengthens Morocco's strong presence in international competitions, while giving him a major morale boost ahead of the remaining stops on the global series.
