FIFA Picks Morocco to Host Its 2027 Elective Congress Amid New Presidential Race

Media reports, including RMC Sport, have revealed that the 77th elective congress of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), scheduled for 2027, will be held in Morocco, a move that reflects the Kingdom's rising standing on the global football stage.
The event is expected to take place in the capital, Rabat, with delegations from various football federations around the world in attendance. It will mark a pivotal moment ahead of the 2030 World Cup finals, of which Morocco will be one of the host nations.
The congress will also feature a decisive moment with the election of a new FIFA president. Gianni Infantino is expected to run for a new term, benefiting from a special legal status that would allow him to remain at the helm of world football's governing body until 2031.
Morocco's selection to host this event is seen as fresh recognition of the growing role it plays in world football, especially after hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals and amid its preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which it will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
