Morocco's Lawyers Club Sends Legal Notices to Stade de France and GL Events Over Senegal's AFCON Ceremony

Mourad El Ajouti, president of Morocco's Lawyers Club, has revealed that two formal legal notices have been issued to both the Stade de France and the GL Events group over their involvement in organizing a ceremony to present the Africa Cup of Nations trophy, which the Senegalese Football Federation intends to stage ahead of its friendly match against Peru.
El Ajouti confirmed that this move follows the decision of the Confederation of African Football on 17 March 2026, which awarded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to the Morocco national team, considering that any activity based on the revoked title amounts to a direct legal violation and exposes the organizers to clear judicial liability.
He noted that displaying the trophy in this context constitutes a "usurpation of the title," particularly in the absence of any suspension ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS/CAS), warning that proceeding with the ceremony could lead to legal proceedings and claims for compensation, as well as the possibility of a judicial seizure of the trophy and placing it under the supervision of a competent authority until a final judgment is issued.
This legal action comes as part of efforts to protect Morocco's rights and the image of its sporting and judicial institutions, following what the club regarded as a clear breach of the law by the Senegalese Football Federation and the organizers of the ceremony.
